Did you know that treatment of chronic disease consumes 67% of all direct health care costs, and costs the Canadian economy $190 billion annually? More than half of Ontarians aged 65 and older have at least one chronic disease; health expenditures for treating chronic diseases are rising more rapidly than our economic growth. An increased focus on prevention can improve health and wellbeing while also contributing to more sustainable health system.
The Ontario Chronic Disease Prevention Alliance (OCDPA), is committed to taking action on chronic disease prevention by hosting an Healthy Luncheon for MPPs on Monday, September 24, 2018 from 11:45am - 1:30pm in Room 228 of the Ontario Legislature. This luncheon will bring attention to this critical issue and offer an opportunity for our 21-member organizations to discuss why #preventionmatters with members of Ontario's Legislature.
