The Ontario Chronic Disease Prevention Alliance (OCDPA), an alliance of 21 health related non-profit organizations committed to taking action on chronic disease prevention, is hosting an MPP luncheon on Monday, September 24, 2018 from 11:45am - 1:30pm in Room 228 of the Ontario Legislature.
Did you know that treatment of chronic disease consumes 67% of all direct health care costs, and costs the Canadian economy $190 billion annually? More than half of Ontarians aged 65 and older have at least one chronic disease; health expenditures for treating chronic diseases are rising more rapidly than our economic growth. An increased focus on prevention can improve health and wellbeing while also contributing to more sustainable health system. Our Alliance is holding this Legislative Day at Queen’s Park to bring attention to this critical issue, to discuss why #preventionmatters, and to highlight the work of our member organizations.
